The year was 1966. After a brilliant tennis career Sergio Tacchini decides to conquer the sportwear market with an original and innovative idea. Create the first colored tenniswear collection, breaking with the completely white tradition. A winning idea just like that of tying in his name and image with the most famous names in world tennis. Jan Kodes, Jimmy Connors, Roscoe Tanner, Vitas Gerulatis and Ilie Nastase were only the first in a long line of illustrious testimonials that helped bring the Sergio Tacchini brand to the top of tennis across the globe. In 1978, the entry of John McEnroe on the team confirmed the winning mark of the Sergio Tacchini brand.

For the company, the 1980s were years of growth and development in different sports. Along with world tennis stars (Mats Wilander, Pat Cash, Martina Navratilova, Gabriela Sabatini, Pete Sampras), Sergio Tacchini also outfitted the Italian National Basketball Team (1983 European Champions), skier Pirmin Zurbriggen. (winner of 4 ski World Cup), Formula One Drivers Ayrton Senna, Carlos Reutemann and Dereck Warwick, and golfer Ian Woosnam (winner of the 1991 PGA Master's Tournament in Atlanta). But it was during the 1990s that the company established itself as a leader in the sport sector, both in its products that then included sportswear for golf, skiing, fitness, swimming, leisure time and shoes, as well as in more and more numerous and celebrated testimonials such as Marc Girardelli (winner of 5 overall ski world Cups) and Sergi Bruguera (winner of the French Open in 1993 and 1994). For more than five years the brand has been the official titlesponsor of the Ski World Cup and in 1996 was the official brand of the Italian Team at the Atlanta Olympics, an incredible recognition for the creativity and tradition of the company.

At the end of the 1990s, the high quality of the products and design linked to the names of champions like Goran Ivanisevic, Costantino Rocca, Nicolas Escud and Silvia Farina made Sergio Tacchini a brand known worldwide and ready for a new adventure: the sea.

In 2000, Sergio Tacchini moved into the irresistible and adventurous world of sailing by sponsoring the young and promising French Skipper, Karine Fauconnier. The choice was triumphant right from the start. Karine, along with her partner Lionel Lemonchois, dominated the Lorient St. Barthelemy transoceanic crossing with her nine meter craft.

With the voyage of the Sergio Tacchini Oceanic Catamaran, a racing boat designed to compete in the ORMA circuit (the Ocean Racing Multihull Association), the company launched itself into a thrilling new adventure. From sailing to motors, Sergio Tacchini has never failed in its successes. It sponsored Formula 1 Driver Jean Alesi from the Prost Team. It outfitted the young motorcycle champion Marco Melandri with a leisure time line and was the official supplier for the Aprilia Racing Team. And finally back to tennis, the Sergio Tacchini International Team added the young player Juan Carlos Ferrero who competed for Spain in the historic victory in the 2000 Davis Cup; meanwhile Goran Ivanisevic crowned his incredible career with the victory at Wimbledon 2001, a new milestone in a history of success in both sports and business.
