Beautician, business executive. Born in Queens, New York. In 1946, Lauder started her company with a skin cream developed by her chemist uncle. Seven years later, her Youth-Dew beauty oil launched Estee Lauder , Inc., which became a billion-dollar-a-year business. Lauder was as innovative with her marketing strategies as her cosmetic products, selling and merchandising through top department stores and offering free product samples, eventually making her the richest self-made woman in the world. She was married twice (1930-39, 1942-83) to Joseph Lauder , her business partner.

Clinique was launched in 1968 by Estee Lauder at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York. First introduced to people who have very sensitive skin, who prior to Clinique could never wear make-up. All Clinique products are 100% fragrance free and Allergy Tested. As well as skincare, Clinique are also very successful in the makeup and fragrance markets, the most popular fragrance being Clinique Happy, now currently endorsed by Rhianna.
